Historic and technical information

Denomination :     6 pouces 200 pouds 1904 | Origin :       ( Obuchov)           | ||||
Historic context :
If a clue was needed to prove the lack of modernism of the Russian heavy artillery manufacturers at the start of the XXth centur, it could be given by the existence of this '6 inches 200 puds long barrel gun Model 1904' (200 puds being the barrel weight, 1 pud = 16.34 kg). Modification of the ancient 1877 heavy gun, 200 such guns have been built by the Obuchov Works in 1904 on old fashioned principles similar to the ones of the XIXth century weapons when the other major European nations were only manufacturing modern guns, it was already obsolete before it was even built. |
