The presence of this Austrian fielgun in Verdun is a mystery. According to some sources, it could have been captured by Italians on the Alps front, and used in Verdun by one Italian unit |
French-type colour. Rear view on the breech. The tube is most probably in bronze, but this can not be verified visually because of the thick paint payer |
Breech markings : 'n°F 2323-1914 SKODAWERKE AG PILSEN' |

Historic and technical information

Denomination :     7.5cm M 11 FK | Origin :       ( Skoda)           | ||||
Historic context :
Skoda, powerful Austrian company, was a major actor in its country artillery weapons design and manufacturing. It was also present on the exportation markets with a respectable success (but behind the 'giants' Schneider and Krupp). In 1911, Skoda developped for China a '7.5 cm FeldKanone M11' fieldgun inspired from the reglementary Austrian '8cm FeldKanone M05' fieldgun, with performances slightly lower. |
