Historic and technical information
Denomination :     8cm M 05/08 Flak mit 10cm M 08 / M 10 GebH lafette Origin :       ( Arsenaux d'état)

Historic context :

since the beginning of the war, the fighting nations had to develop new anti-aircraft weapons to add to the few ones they had in their dotations. The very first designs were often pure improvisations of unequal quality , sometimes built on the frontline and based on converted existing field guns or captured ennemy material.

But from the second half of 1915 one could see new more sophisticated material coming, just as this weapon manufactured by adapting a 8cm FK M05/08 field gun barrel on a modified 10cm M08/M10 mountain howitzer carriage. The wheels of this 8cm FK M 05 - M 05/08 Flak mit 10cm M 08 / M 10 GebH lafette were only mounted during transportation and removed in firing position, the gun then laying on its pivot placed on a concrete base.

60 guns of that model, inspired by a TMK idea, were built by the Austrian State Arsenals after successful tests that took place in September 1915. The weapons were delivered to the front from January 1916.

New powerful and efficient AA weapons were finally delivered afterwards on the basis on the artillery manufacturers engineering brand new engineering designs.
