Historic context :

The 'Cannone da 76/40 A 1897' was a naval gun developped on the basis of the Armstrong QF 12-Pdr 12 cwt gun, and adapted later as an anti-aircraft weapon. Severalmodels existed made by Armstrong and by Ansaldo, and mainly fifferentiated by the carriage type (terrestrial pivot carriage M 1915, naval pivot carriage M 1916, or platform carriage M 1917).

The 76/40 was used during WW1, and until the end of WW2.
